Recently, a city council member used his platform to spread harmful rhetoric against the LGBTQIA++ community and to oppose diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our city. He inaccurately and dishonestly called the C-Pride festival a “child indoctrination event,” compared DEI Officers to “Communist Propaganda Officers” and declared that homosexuals should not associate with the “Marxist LGBT Agenda.” With no evidence and many assertions, he attacked community members because he refuses to respect others who may not share his beliefs.
Elected officials should unite us, not spread hate and lies. I'm committed to promoting DEI, ensuring equity and equality for all regardless of sex race gender religion or sexual orientation.
